Lost Carnival: Application
Apr. 3rd, 2017 11:55 pmPLAYER↴ Name: Dandy Contact: Other Characters: Tamaki Yotsuba ( ![]() CHARACTER↴ Character Name: Elsa Age: 21 in canon, 23 now Species: Human Canon: Frozen Canon Point: end of movie Character Info: Thank goodness I'm playing from a canon with lots of available info this time lol Personality: Elsa was once a person who was gripped by constant fear, anxiety, and loneliness. Born with a strange, sometimes dangerous power to create ice and snow, Elsa was locked away from people from a young age, out of fear that she would one day hurt someone, or be hurt by them, if she could not learn to control it. She let this fear rule her, until her powers were revealed to the people of Arendelle and she ran away. But that was before Elsa's little sister, Anna, committed an act of true love and saved the day. Elsa now is no longer controlled by fear of her powers, and has embraced them as a part of herself. Elsa, as a queen, generally presents herself to outsiders as a reserved and diplomatic person. She has to choose her words carefully, and think about their consequences. In a more relaxed setting, though, Elsa is lively and sometimes a bit silly. She loves ice skating and chocolate, and doesn't really want to hide it, especially around people she's close to. She's learned that it's okay to be an imperfect person, even as a queen, and have some fun. Especially in the Carnival, she's trying to put her responsibilities as queen toward the back of her mind (though it's not always possible), and focus more on figuring herself out, so she can go back as a queen worthy of Arendelle. Though Elsa is a kind person, she's also not afraid to speak her mind if she feels she has a place to. If she doesn't like something, she'll say so, and she's not afraid to argue her position. Elsa also won't be pushed around or intimidated - while she doesn't want to hurt anyone, she will defend herself, and she won't do things someone tells her to just because they threaten her. On the flip side, Elsa can be her own worst enemy, and while she isn't afraid of getting close to people like she was before, she can still succumb to her own self doubts. Unlike before, though, she works harder now to push through them, rather than run away. Elsa also has a lust for freedom. Though she's willing to return to her country and be its queen one day, she's excited for the chance to really explore herself, and the things she can do with her powers. She wants to test her own limits, not only the limits of her powers, but her limits as a person - what she's willing to do, what kinds of things she's willing to face bravely. It's an opportunity she feels she never had as a child, and while she doesn't resent her parents, who she believes were just doing what they thought was right for her, she does regret the years spent running away from her powers instead of embracing them. Sometimes Elsa's overzealousness for making up for lost time leads to her making questionable decisions, like pushing through an illness when she really should just lie down for a bit. Since she isn't sure what her limits are yet, she sometimes pushes them a bit far, but it's a learning process. Abilities: Cryokinesis: Obviously, Elsa is able to make ice and snow, sometimes in large quantities. This is pretty straightforward - she can make it snow anywhere and anytime she wants, she can freeze water or create ice, she can make beautiful formations and even buildings (and dresses? and ice skates??) out of ice. Her ice powers are fueled by her emotions. When Elsa is happy and calm, she is fully in control of her powers, and can make pretty much anything she wants with them. When she is scared, her ice becomes defensive almost of its own accord, creating spikes, shooting from her hand at anyone she considers an attacker, creating paths for her to run on, etc. The air around her will often react to her emotions, as well - if she gets nervous, snow starts to fall, if she's upset then it will get cold and snow might still fall, and so on. Elsa has been learning to control this, and is much more in control of her powers when she's mad or upset than before, but her powers still tend to react with her feelings, if in subtle ways. And yes, technically Elsa is able to create an eternal winter, but for obvious reasons that's nerfed. Creating Life: Yeah this one's weird, thanks Disney. Elsa can create living snow creatures, which have personalities of their own and are fully capable of independent movement. They are also somewhat invincible, at least against blades or bullets, as they are made of snow, except around heat of course (they can be melted just like anything made of snow). This is kind of a weird power for an RP setting, so I was thinking of limiting her to making more mindless snowbeasts that are controlled directly by her instead of their own power, and only one at a time (which is all we really see anyway). She can also create small snowmen (she's learned how to do this WITHOUT being sick), and while she can create more than one at a time, they're rather mischievous. Shards: Finally, the big one - if Elsa sends a shard of her ice into a character's head or heart, it will cause them to slowly freeze to death. To correct a frozen head, a character must be persuaded that the freezing did not happen (or something like that, it's vague). It's fairly simple if anyone has some memory erasing abilities. Freezing the heart is a different matter entirely, as a frozen heart is only cured by an act of ~true love~. It doesn't have to be romantic love - a parent saving a child or a friend sacrificing something for another would work, for example. I'm totally willing to nerf the last one (or any of her powers), or if they're not nerfed, the last one would only be used with appropriate plotting. CARNIVAL↴ Soul Colour: Icy blue Ideal Jobs: Treasurer, alternately something under that that doesn't directly involve stealing Relevant Experience: She ran a whole country that was apparently rich enough multiple people were trying to take it over. She's also presumably had lots of training in this area. Carnival History: Elsa joined the Carnival roughly two years before the start of the game, while the Carnival was visiting the realm of the elementals (a fitting time to join). She had been running from Arendelle just after her powers were discovered, and all she could think was that she wanted to get away, as far away as possible, and, suddenly, she found herself right at the Carnival gates. Giving her crown to the gatekeeper (it's not like she needed it, anymore), she went inside, stunned at all the things she had never seen before. Still emotionally frazzled from before, it didn't take long for something to startle her into freezing (and subsequently breaking) several mirrors in the Hall of Mirrors, and that's when she got her first contract, working under the treasurer, at first as a simple cashier. Once the treasurer noticed her diplomatic skills, he moved her to being a patch, working out rough situations with customers. Elsa didn't really mind the work, but was sometimes a bit disturbed by what she was expected to do. A lot of tricking customers out of money was involved, and sometimes they'd even be tricked into joining the Carnival as labor, similarly to herself. But at the same time, she found herself enjoying the relative freedom the Carnival gave her, and the chance she had to work out her powers. She also felt relief; surely Arendelle, and Anna, would be safer without her around to hurt any of them. She started learning how to control her powers, though she was still hesitant to do so with anyone around, out of fear of hurting them. Not long after their stop performing for the Asgardian warriors, Elsa's contract was up. Apprehensive about returning home, she asked if she could be able to come back to the Carnival, if she didn't like what she found back home. Whether she was granted this request or merely stumbled back into the Carnival after awhile, she was soon back, but this time she was willing to do a contract in return for a favor: learning how to unfreeze Arendelle, and undo the mess she made. Though troubled by the state of things back home, Elsa found herself happy to be back in the Carnival. She was more relaxed here, where her troubles were literally worlds away, but that in turn made her feel guilty that she wasn't doing more to fix things. The year was a rather tumultuous one for Elsa, her powers sometimes getting more out of control than ever, but with help and support from other magic users in the Carnival, Elsa found herself gaining more and more control. She also found herself taking on more and more responsibilities under the treasurer, working her way up the ranks. In the midst of all this, the vampires attacked. Elsa, though frightened of the vampires and fearing for her friends' lives, found herself much more confident using her powers to fight back than she had ever been at home. She was able to bring up ice shields by her own will, and would throw blocks of ice and other obstacles to chase vampires away from herself and others. She proved her value by helping the other members of the Carnival remove the vampires, for the time being. Emboldened by this, and by more practice with her powers while in the Summerlands and Crossroads, Elsa felt ready to face her problems at home once more. With a promise that she would know exactly what to do at the right time, Elsa returned to Arendelle - and, of course, learned that what she needed was inside her the whole time~. Though happy that everything was back to normal, and that she could now forge a better relationship with her sister, Elsa still found herself tugged back toward somewhere she couldn't remember, but felt she should go. Once again, late one night, Elsa found herself back in the Carnival, and suddenly knew what she wanted to do. For just awhile longer, she would willingly work in the Carnival, in exchange for all the time in the multiverse to figure herself and her powers out. Then, she could return to Arendelle, finally ready to assume her rightful place as queen, and her rightful place as Anna's older sister. Sometime after joining, the Ringmaster asked her to take on some very important errands: collecting some outstanding debts from fae and other worldly beings. While she was away, she was sent a message that the old treasurer was gone, and she'd been promoted. She's been doing what she can of her treasurer duties while away on her mission, and has finally returned, goods in tow. Existing Contract: Repayment for breaking some mirrors. Details: No rewards, just paid off a debt. Existing Contract: The secret to undoing the eternal winter she accidentally created. Details: Elsa realized when she returned and witnessed Anna's act of true love that all she ever needed to do was rely on the love she had for her country and her sister. Whether the Ringmaster directly helped her realize this or not is kind of vague. Elsa doesn't feel slighted over it. Existing Contract: Willingly signed on in exchange for time to practice her powers. (current) Details: Elsa wants to remember everything she learns about her powers once she goes back home, even if she forgets the Carnival specifically. (And it's something of a soul-searching vacation - Elsa is turning the Carnival into Eat Pray Love or some shit.) Current Changes: [Rare] partially liquid form [Uncommon] blue gemstones dotting her skin, more prevalent on her back [Uncommon] eyes are completely blue (no pupils or whites) and faceted like a gemstone [Uncommon] sparkly, snowy fairy trail [Common] skin is textured like ice, and has turned a light icy blue [Common] long, pointed ears [Common] blood is a dark blue [Common] no shadow SAMPLES↴ 1. TDM threads 2. Elsa might not be a performer, but that doesn't mean she never shows off what she can do. Not that it's necessarily her intention at the moment, but as it's an off-week, she's taken the liberty of no customers being around to secure a place for herself outside, near one of the side tents. She starts out making a tall pillar all out of ice. At first it doesn't have any particular shape, but she adds onto it, and soon it becomes a rather ornate spiral staircase. She starts to walk up it as she continues building it, out of idle curiosity of how high she can make the structure go before- before it starts to crumble, like it is now. Quickly, she creates another slide of ice that she uses to slip away from the stairway, then turns her attention back to it. With a few quick shots of ice from her hands, she breaks up the tumbling tower into much smaller and more harmless pieces. Then, with a wave of her hand and a lot of will behind it, she turns the falling chunks into snow. A lot of snow, which falls rather quickly on herself - and anyone who was unfortunate enough to be around. Elsa catches sight of a hapless victim, covered in snow, who happened to be too close, and she can't help but laugh, putting a hand to her mouth quickly to hide it. "Aha- sorry about that." |
